Where Our Cannabis Comes From

Where Our Cannabis Comes From

This print (and its sister-piece ‘Where Our Cocaine Comes From’) is an homage to the work of the great early 20th Century cartographer MacDonald Gill.

It was primarily based on his map of the British Empire trade routes, titled ‘Where Our Tea Comes From’ (1937).

This piece uses the same styling to depict major cannabis trade routes, reawakening the format for a modern audience.

Areas of production, distribution and consumption (informed by C.I.A. info packs) are depicted across the map, while small circular vignettes illustrate key moments in the lifecycle of the drug, from plant to gummy-bear.
